Firstly, we are pleased to announce our Guys & Dolls Production Team:

Assistant Director: Matthew T Corbett
Choreographer:  Danielle Romero
Assistant Choreographer: Beverly Keller

Vocal Coach: Kristina Novykova
Voice Coach: Daniel Gott

And secondly, we’re happy to share news with you about the show and details about our upcoming auditions schedule and plans!

Performances: 21st-24th May 2025

Where: Guys & Dolls will be staged at Sunmarke School (auditions and rehearsals will also be at Sunmarke)

Rehearsals: Will primarily be Sunday mornings for all cast, beginning in mid January. Principal cast will also rehearse on Tuesdays/Thursdays 7 - 9pm (Principal/featured cast, as called) but as always, expect rehearsals to ramp up closer to showtime, and be prepared to be flexible as required.

Auditions: will be the weekend of Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th January 2025. We are expecting high demand and another large cast for this production, and as such the Production Team/Audition Panel would like to see everyone wishing to perform in this show. This includes existing/previous MTDXB cast members and newcomers, and this applies to everyone, regardless of whether you are planning to audition for a principal role, or to be a member of the ensemble.

Due to high demand, we expect that there will be a number of difficult decisions to be made in order to arrive at our final cast selection, and we understand this will undoubtedly lead to disappointment for some auditionees, including those who have worked with MTDXB previously.  We promise to be fair to everyone, and to select the best possible cast to deliver another MTDXB production of the highest possible standard.

The plan is as follows:

Audition material is available below!

Please check the folder(s), and song chart for each role carefully - most roles have specific parts for both singing and acting.  For those roles that do not have a specific singing part, please refer to the Ensemble folders and be prepared to sing the chosen song at your audition.

AUDITION SIGN-UP will open at the beginning of January. For now, please begin to get comfortable with the audition material below

You can expect further details and audition slots to be confirmed via social media and on this website on or before Thursday 9th January.  Note: both the dance workshop and the auditions will take place at Sunmarke School, JVT.  Location details will be shared along with confirmation of the audition schedule.

Saturday, January 11th – Ensemble singing, dancing and acting auditions (for those not wanting to audition for a principal role)

Our choreographer, Danielle, will ask men and women to perform a short excerpt from a number in the show, in separate groups.

Please note: Your experience, age, size and shape aren't important - we just want to see you move and respond to direction!

On this day, we will also ask you to sing a small part of one of the show numbers (in a group with others).  See the details below for Ensemble audition piece.

There will also be a short section (20/30 mins) where our director, Claire, will lead an acting workshop. This character workshop will be based on the ensemble of Guys & Dolls, so get reading the full script to immerse yourself in the period and location!

If you wish to ONLY audition for a principal part then you will only need to attend your allocated slot on Sunday, however, if you wish to be considered for ensemble IN ADDITION to a principal role you are auditioning for then you will need to attend Saturday AS WELL AS Sunday.

NB: if you are auditioning for ‘Adelaide’ you MUST attend the dance audition.

Sunday, January 12th – Principal role auditions.

Based on the character(s) you wish to audition for, you will be asked to act and sing the pieces the director has chosen (see link below for more details).

Cast will be confirmed and announced in the days following the audition weekend, and we plan on jumping into rehearsals as soon as possible!

Wow, that was a lot of dates and information to digest, but hopefully you’ve now got a good idea of what’s coming up over the next few weeks.

Now, take a look at the character profiles and auditions material links below to help you make your decision about which role(s) you are most interested to audition for!

The Guys & Dolls ensemble is packed with colourful, larger-than-life characters that bring the world of New York City to life. If you love to sing, dance, or bring characters to life, there’s a place for you!

Here are just a few of the ensemble roles to expect:

Gamblers – The fast-talking, sharp-dressing, lovable rogues who populate Nathan Detroit’s world. Some may have featured moments and solo lines.

Hot Box Dancers – A dynamic, high-energy group of showgirls who perform in Miss Adelaide’s nightclub routines. Dancers with strong movement and rhythm are essential here.

Save-a-Soul Mission Band – Members of Sarah Brown’s mission who sing and interact with the gamblers throughout the story.

Street Vendors, Tourists, and Passersby – The vibrant, bustling world of 1940s New York comes to life through this group. You’ll help set the scene and keep the energy of the city alive.
